This might be the shortest blog I have ever done. It’s just a very simple thought, but important.
I woke up thinking about Matthew 6 v 33, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need”. At times in the past, I have approached this verse with the idea that the “he will give you everything you need” bit was the most important bit. To get everything I needed (or did I think it meant ‘wanted’) I had better seek first the Kingdom.
How about I just seek the Kingdom of God for its own sake? How about that becoming the one all consuming goal? I think seeking the Kingdom and knowing the King are indivisible by the way. You can’t do one without achieving the other.
Now here’s why this is doubly important at this time. You remember Jesus telling people to “Repent ( = ‘stop’ ‘turn around’ ‘think differently’ ‘go a different direction’ ‘live differently’) for the Kingdom of God is near”.
Well, some did, and some didn’t.
The ones that didn’t missed out on what God was doing.
I fully believe that even as various storm clouds of satanic plans and deception are attempting to overwhelm mankind, God is going to pour out His Holy Spirit in a powerful way all over the earth. In a sense, the Kingdom of God is near. Certainly in a way that it hasn’t been for many years. The statement “Repent, for the Kingdom of God is near” applies to all Gods people.
It’s time to stop. It’s time to check. Are there ways in which we need to turn round, live differently, think differently or go in a different direction? I’m not necessarily talking about sin. Are there ways we do things, are there priorities, are there expectations that we have that need to change? It’s about us being ready for what God is about to do. If we are not, we run the risk of being bystanders and observers rather than participating. At the very least we might find ourselves having to run for all that we’re worth to catch up with what He is doing. I think the word for this moment is, ‘be alert, get ready’.
